Cracker production in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) often relies on semi-automatic machines with limited productivity due to inefficient transmission systems. Transmission design directly affects torque distribution, rotational speed, and overall machine capacity. This study aims to optimize the transmission system of a cracker molding machine by testing three gear ratio variations (1:2, 1:3, and 1:4). Experiments were conducted using 20 kg of cracker dough per trial, repeated three times for each ratio. Parameters measured included production capacity (kg/hour), energy consumption (kWh), and product uniformity (%). Results show that a 1:3 gear ratio provided the best compromise, increasing production capacity by 25% compared to the original design, while maintaining acceptable energy consumption and product uniformity. The findings highlight the importance of transmission optimization in enhancing SME productivity and reducing operational costs.
